Frequently asked questions

What can I deploy? Anything that runs in a Linux container and serves HTTP: Node.js, Python, Go, PHP, Ruby, Java and more through Nixpacks, a Dockerfile, static sites, prebuilt registry images, or a Docker Compose file.

Do I need a Dockerfile? No. Nixpacks detects your language. A root Dockerfile is used automatically if present.

Deploy succeeded but the site shows 502? Listen on 0.0.0.0 and the PORT variable (3000 by default). See Ports and health checks.

Are environment variables available during the build? No, only at runtime. Redeploy after changing them; Reload doesn't apply them.

Monorepo subfolder? There's no root-directory setting. Use a root Dockerfile, nixpacks.toml or a prebuilt image.

Auto-deploy on push? Yes for GitHub with Autodeploy on. Other providers need a manual Deploy.

Is data kept between deploys? Only in volumes, managed databases or object storage. The container filesystem resets on every deploy.

Can I connect to my database from my laptop? Not directly; databases aren't exposed to the internet. Use Open Terminal or contact support.

Does every app get HTTPS? Yes, with automatic Let's Encrypt certificates on *.apps.marvx.io and custom domains.

Can I choose a region? Not in the dashboard; placement is automatic. Contact support for data-location needs.

Zero-downtime deploys or autoscaling? No. Each app is one container, replaced on deploy, so expect a brief interruption.

Is there a CLI? Personal tokens work with the REST API (https://api.marvx.io/v1) and the marvx CLI. Contact support for CLI availability.

What counts as a deployment? Every deployment you start, including failed ones, pushes, rollbacks and a new project's initial deploy. Domain-change redeploys and previews don't count.

What happens at a plan limit? The action is refused with an explanation; existing apps keep running. See Plans, limits and add-ons.

What if my payment fails? A grace period (normally 10 days) where apps run but deploys pause; then apps stop until you pay. See Payments, invoices and failed payments.

Local currency? African billing countries pay via Paystack with local-currency prices (charged in NGN); others pay in USD via Stripe.

How do I delete things? App: Advanced → Delete app. Workspace: Settings → Danger zone (owner). Personal account: contact support.

How do I reach a person? Ask MarvX Assistant to open a ticket, or go to /dashboard/support.
